Lorraine Thompson is our Virtual School & Vulnerable Groups Lead. Lorraine has a strategic responsibility to ensure that all children and young people in the care of Walsall local authority have the opportunity to fulfil their educational potential. This includes Walsall Children in care who live in another authority. 

Lorraine is also responsible for ensuring parents of children who have or who have had were previously looked after receive information advice and guidance on any education matters.

New guidance introduced in 2021 extended the role of the Virtual School Head to promote the education of all children with a social worker.  To enable us to deliver this new duty, the Inclusion Hub was formed. Lorraine leads the Inclusion Hub, working with other LA services to ensure the educational needs of this group of children and young people are identified and met
